This course will teach helicopter operators techniques that will help them identify hazards in their operational environment—even hazards they’ve become hardened to. We will walk them through the steps to quantify those hazards as risk factors, and to reflect those risks in a meaningful FRAT (flight risk assessment tool) format that sticks with the crew beyond preflight planning and become a viable in-flight methodology to identify and manage new and emerging risks during flight. The tools we present further support postflight risk-data gathering. We teach participants how to use the data to identify trends of at-risk behaviors and to use the analysis to develop effective risk management strategies.
